After a long wait of nearly 3 years, Total War: Warhammer finally gets a release date of April 28, 2016 as confirmed by Sega. The turn based strategy real time tactics game is in development by The Creative Assembly, the creator of Total War series and was first announced in December 2012 as a result of a partnership between Sega and The Games Workshop.
This cross platform game will be available for Microsoft Windows, Linux and OS X. The in-Engine cinematic trailer revealed the first DLC in the form of Chaos Warriors 'race pack' which will be available from day one for everybody who pre-orders the game. The DLC adds a new race to the already existing 4 factions namely the Orcs, Dwarfs, Empire and Undead.
Players will also get their hands on three new playable legendary lords along with new Chaos mounts, units, monsters, quests, magic items and abilities with a new horde campaign playstyle.
High King Edition
On top of this race pack DLC, the High King edition will be an extremely limited run that will ship in a large ornate presentation box containing multiple items beautifully carved in metallic gold Dwarfen style:
- Grudge Ring - A high quality metal ring with rotating inner band that includes 6 numbered bevels on the inner hoop to allow the ring to double as a fully functional die.
- Slayer's Whetstone Pendant - A trinket made of genuine, functional whetstone that is inscribed with talismatic Master Rune of Spite.
- Dwarfen Drinking Horn & Stand - A well decorated drinking horn featuring icons and sigils on its surface in Dwarfen craftsman style that can hold a full pint of liquid.
- Chaos Warriors Race Pack together with an illustrative Canvas Map, Integrated Artbook, Metal Pak case and a printed strategical insider guide.
The first cinematic announcement trailer was officially made public in April, 2015. Following up on that, the publishers have also released a 16 minutes of 'Dwarfs Let's Play' gameplay trailer, which depicts an early Quest battle from the Dwarfs campaign.
