It's 'Times Up' for Dinklebot as Bungie announced that the voice performance of Peter Dinklage for the Destiny franchise will be replaced by the video game veteran Nolan North, the American actor who is well known for his voice work in all time famous franchise Assassin's Creed as Desmond Miles, Nathan Drake from Uncharted series and as Penguin in the Batman Arkham video game. North has already started re-recording all previous Dinklage's dialogues and the new ones for the upcoming video game The Taken King on September 15 which is the third installment in the Destiny franchise.
Though the script has not been changed, Dinklage is no more to recast his lines as the player's AI companion Ghost. According to creative director Luke Smith:
We wanted Nolan North's version of the Ghost to wake you up at the start of the journey at level one and follow you all the way to level forty [The Taken King's new cap].
While many of the fans believed that the criticism which Dinklage faced due to his lack of enthusiasm in the voice work as Ghost was the main reason for his removal, Bungie's executive producer Mark Noseworthy mentioned Game Informer that it's mere 'Hollywood Nonsense' as we all know how Peter Dinklage is in high demand for Game of Thrones and they want someone like North who is more available. This is what he has to say:
Dinklage was awesome to work with but we needed to work with someone who is more available. Nolan is a pro, this is his thing. You can just call him up and say 'hey, next week we're doing this internal play test and it would be great to get some Ghost dialogue in there'. And he's available.
Mark Noseworthy, Bungie's Executive ProducerThe Taken King is a downloadable content (DLC) expansion pack for the video game 'Destiny'. It will be released for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4 on September 15, 2015 as announced by Bungie and requires the previous DLCs 'The Dark Below' and 'House of Wolves' to play.
